Development Training Programmes

1. The Development Programme for Male Dancers:
This CTCB initiative encourages and empowers young male dancers from all communities in the study of dance and to develop the skills necessary to become professional dancers. Through this programme talented children are identified for additional training and all participants have the opportunity to appear with the Company in productions on the professional stage.
2. The Apprenticeship Development Programme:
Cape Town City Ballet offers a skills based programme aimed at those seeking to pursue a career in the profession. The programme has been vital in helping to secure the future of the Company by incorporating apprentices into the corps de ballet of major productions performed by the Company during the year.

The Apprenticeship programme is a once-a-week programme aimed at those living in or around the greater Cape Town area, it is not a full time programme. Access is by annual audition around March or April.
3. Partnership with Amy Biehl Foundation:
In a partnership with the Amy Biehl Foundation, the Company teaches weekly ballet classes to young children from the disadvantaged community of Gugulethu.
