Johnny Bovang

Born in Kristiansand, Norway, he trained at the Royal Ballet School, London. He joined the PACT Ballet Company in 1983 and moved to the Cape Town City Ballet in 1997. He danced at the inauguration of President Nelson Mandela and has performed as guest artist in Tokyo, Glasgow and New Zealand.

| Don Quixote, Armand in Camille, Florimund and The Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty, Danillo and Camille in The Merry Widow, the Prince in The Nutcracker, Crassus in Spartacus, Solor in La Bayadere and the title roles in Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Orpheus in the Underworld. During his long and illustrious career, he has received many prestigious awards, including the DALRO, FNB Vita and the Nederburg awards. |


Robin van Wyk

Born in Pietermaritzburg, Robin received his tertiary ballet training at the University of Cape Town Ballet School before joining NAPAC Dance Company in 1990. In 1991 he moved to PACT Ballet and in 1997 joined Cape Town City Ballet where he is presently a principal dancer and was appointed Artistic Director in 2008.

He has danced Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, the Immortal One in Christopher Kindo's Firebird, Franz in Jean-Paul Comelin's Coppélia, Raka in Frank Staff's ballet of the same name, |

 |
the Prince in The Nutcracker and in works by Balanchine, Spoerli, Adele Blank and Sean Bovim's Queen at the Ballet. As a cast member of the SA production of the musical Cats he toured internationally to 11 cities and performed to audiences of 13 000 in a Stockholm arena.

During 1999 he choreographed his first one act ballet, Geisha for Cape Town City Ballet. He continuous to choreograph for the Company and for various Youth Ballet companies in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and East London.

Awards include the Cape Town FNB Vita Award for Most Promising Choreographer and the Nederburg, FNB Vita
and Dalro Awards. |


Megan Swart

Megan was born in Johannesburg, where she trained with Lynne Fouche from the age of eight. At the age of sixteen she attended the Royal Ballet School in London on a scholarship. During her first two years there, she performed Check Mate for Dame Ninette De Valois's birthday at Covent Garden and performed Swan Lake and Symphony in Three Movements with the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

| She joined the Cape Town City Ballet in 1996 and has danced the leading roles in Beauty and the Beast, La Sylphide, The Snow Queen, Nutcracker, Blue Bird, The Sleeping Beauty, Queen of the Willis in Giselle and the black swan, Odile in Swan Lake. |


Mervyn Williams

Mervyn Williams was born in Port Elizabeth and started ballet at the age of 19 yrs. He matriculated from the Bethelsdorp High School in 1983 and is now married to Tessa and has two children Jayde and Jesse. Mervyn studied musical theatre with the "PE Cultural Group" a community based project in Port Elizabeth and completed his tertiary education at the UCT Ballet School in Cape Town and joined the then CAPAB Ballet Company in 1986.

| Roles danced by Mervyn include, The Don in Don Quixote, Mercutio in Romeo and Juilet, Escamillo in Carmen, Death in Jean Paul Commelilin's Les niute d' ete, Magde in Les Sylphide, Baron Douphol in Camille, Baron Mikro Zeta in the Merry Widow, Hilarion in Giselle, Von Rothbart in Swan Lake, Mormillon in Spartacus, Mr Bojangles in Swing Time at the Ballet, Bob Cratchit in a Christmas Carol, Laetres in Hamlet, Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty and Kamarovsky in Zhivago.
Mervyn is also the Ballet Master for Jikeleza Dance Project in Hout Bay. |


Stanislav Tchalov

He was born in the USSR and trained at the Academy of Dance in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 1978 to 1983. After graduating with Honours in 1983 he joined the Bolshoi Theatre in Tashkent as a junior dancer. He was promoted to Principle dancer in 1984 and during his Russian Army service he choreographed for and danced in the Red Army Assembly.

From 1990 to 1991 he attended the University of Arts in Moscow and during this time |

| danced as guest artist with the New Russian Ballet, Moscow Academic Ballet and Lebeder's Contemporary Dance Theatre. Before joining CTCB in 1992 he danced over 30 different roles in 14 different countries. |
