Romeo & Juliet

17 - 26 October
Artscape Opera House, Cape Town

IIt is with great pleasure that Cape Town City Ballet sees the return of Romeo and Juliet, choreographed by Veronica Paeper, to the Artscape theatre in October. The last time this timeless love story was brought to life in its entirety was in 2002.

This ballet is based on Frank Staff's 1946 version of Shakespeare's tale about the two feuding households of Montague and Capulet.

Paeper's Romeo and Juliet has evolved choreographically since its debut in 1974. This is particularly evident in the sublime construction of Paeper's tender pas de deux sequences for the ill-fated loves.

Don't miss this beautiful ballet set to the music of Sergei Prokofiev from the 17th to the 26th of October 2008.

The role of Juliet will be performed by Elsa Leimane, Laura Bosenberg and Megan Swart, and Romeo will be performed by Raimond Martinov, Robin van Wyk and Emmerich Schmollgruber.

Venue is the Artscape Opera House. Ticket prices range from R75 to R125, except for the Opening Night, which is a special gala evening to be charged at R200. "An Evening in Verona" will include Italian cuisine, a complimentary glass of wine, entertainment and a chance to mingle with the stars of the show. In addition there will be a raffle with spectacular prizes.
