At her Christmas party, Clara is given a toy Nutcracker by her uncle Drosselmeyer. That night, she dreams of a battle between her toy soldiers and some evil rats. The Nutcracker comes to life and challenges the Rat King. After the battle is won, the Nutcracker turns into a prince and takes Clara through the land of Snowflakes and on to the Land of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy lives.
