Sleeping Beauty in Grahamstown

Cape Town City Ballet opens the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown at the end of June, 2005 with the classic ballet, The Sleeping Beauty. This full-length production, first staged by David Poole in 1975 after Petipa, has been reproduced by Cape Town City Ballet's Executive Director, Elizabeth Triegaardt.

Accompanied by the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra under the baton of Michael Hankinson, The Sleeping Beauty will feature the full company with lead dancers Marianne Bauer, Megan Swart, Johnny Bovang, Robin van Wyk and Coert Grobbelaar. The Sleeping Beauty, the ultimate classical ballet, will be presented at The Guy Butler Theatre (Monument) on the 30th June at 19h00 and on the 2nd July at 10h30 & 19h00.
